LA Reaches Agreement With Doughty

The Kings have reached a verbal agreement with restricted free agent defenseman Drew Doughty on a multi-year contract, Kings President/GM Dean Lombardi announced Thursday tonight. In just three NHL seasons, Doughty has already been named a Norris Trophy Finalist (2010) and a Second Team NHL All-Star (2010). The 6-0, 212-pound native of London, Ontario, also won a gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games (Vancouver) with Team Canada, and he represented the Kings at the 2009 NHL YoungStars event in Montreal before being honored as a member of the NHL's All-Rookie Team at the conclusion of the 2008-09 season. Doughty, 21, statistically already ranks among the best defensemen to ever play for the Kings. His nine career game-winning goals ranks fourth all-time among Kings defensemen and his 17 career power-play goals ranks ninth all-time.

Kings Give Westgarth Two-Year Extension

The Kings have agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with forward Kevin Westgarth, Kings President/GM Dean Lombardi announced on Monday. Westgarth, 27, played in 56 regular season games with the Kings last season, recording three points (all assists) and 105 penalty minutes (second on the team). He also played in all six Kings playoff games and registered two assists and 14 penalty minutes. Westgarth had one year remaining on his contract. The new extension runs through the 2013-14 season. The Princeton University product originally signed with the Kings as an unrestricted free agent in 2007.

Leafs Agree To 5-Year Deal With Schenn

Brian Burke, President and GM of the Maple Leafs, announced Friday that the club has agreed to terms with restricted free agent defenceman Luke Schenn on a new five year contract. Schenn, 21, established career highs in games played (82), assists (17), points (22) and shots (128), and added five goals and 34 penalty minutes last season with the Maple Leafs. He was one of five Leafs to play in all 82 games and led all NHL defencemen, ranking eighth overall, with 251 hits in 2010-11. Schenn was selected to play for Team Canada at 2011 IIHF World Championship in Slovakia and appeared in seven games collecting one assist. He has played in 231 career NHL games, all with the Maple Leafs, posting 53 points (12 goals, 41 assists) and 155 penalty minutes. Schenn was Toronto’s first choice, fifth overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Selanne Will Return To Ducks

Teemu Selanne will return to the Ducks after agreeing to a one-year, $4 million deal. Selanne, 41, had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in June and wanted to give the joint additional time to heal before announcing his plans. Training camp is set to begin on Saturday. "You guys knew I can't stop playing yet, so I'm back, at least one more season," Selanne told fans in a video message posted on the team's website. "We start the season in Helsinki, so see you there."

Sources: Marchand Agrees To Two-Year Deal With Bruins

The Bruins and restricted free agent Brad Marchand have reached agreement on a two-year deal, the team announced Wednesday. It is a $5M deal, sources told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun. The 23-year-old gets $2M this season and $3M next season.

John Tavares' future with the Islanders appears to be all but official. The 20-year-old center has agreed to a six-year contract extension with the Islanders, although the paperwork has yet to be completed, a source told ESPNNewYork.com.
